Dear trijet jockeys and future ones, with the Boeing 727-100 we are continuing the path we started with our earlier 727 200 releases. We are bringing one of aviation’s most iconic trijets into Microsoft Flight Simulator.
First flown in 1963 and entering airline service in 1964, the Boeing 727-100 helped define the early jet era. Built for real-world flexibility, it combined the distinctive trijet layout with the S-duct, strong low-speed performance from its high-lift wing, and the practical built-in airstair for airports with limited ground support. Later on, it proved just as capable in freight operations - exactly why the 727 remains a favorite for pilots and simmers who enjoy classic, hands-on jet flying
The Boeing 727-100 was important in the early jet age because it made jet operations practical far beyond the biggest hubs. It was built to handle shorter runways and less-equipped airports, using an advanced high-lift wing that gave it strong takeoff and landing performance for its size. Its three-engine layout fit the technology and operating expectations of the time by providing ample thrust and redundancy for a wide range of routes.
Moreover, features like an onboard APU and integrated airstairs reduced dependence on ground infrastructure, which helped airlines use it efficiently at secondary airports. All of this turned the 727-100 into a highly versatile, widely adopted workhorse that accelerated the spread of jet travel on short and medium routes.
The 727-100 turned jet travel from a big-airport luxury into an everyday reality by bringing reliable, efficient jet service to routes and airports that previously couldn’t support it.
Currently, the add-on is available at Aerosoft. Other shops like Contrail, Simmarket, etc., will follow 1-2 weeks later. To install the aircraft, you will receive a serial key that can be used in the installer applications Aerosoft One and Contrail, regardless of where you purchased it.
We have a comprehensive online documentation available for you
We’ve heard your feedback that our previous modular “building block” pricing was too complex and confusing. For the 727-100, we’re simplifying this: everything is combined into one complete package - one product, one purchase, no separate modules to figure out.
