# First flight on E-Jets 1.0

#### Back in the E-Jets: your guide to the first flight on version 1.0

If you last flew the E-Jets during Early Access, a few familiar habits may no longer be the best way to get started. Here is a practical route back into the cockpit.

Many of you have been with the E-Jets for years. Some flew almost every update; others put the aircraft aside and waited until the Early Access work was further along. Wherever you left off, welcome back.

Version 1.0 is a good moment to begin with a fresh flight rather than trying to remember every step from an older build. The flight deck, MCDU and flight guidance have evolved, and some of the workflows you learned before may have changed. This guide takes you from a clean installation to a straightforward arrival. It is a starting point, not a replacement for the full E-Jets documentation.

#### Before you load the aircraft

Install the current version through your usual app or store. If you are returning after several updates, follow our [How to Update](https://docs.flightsim-studio.com/e-jet-series/introduction/how-to-update) guide for the recommended clean installation, including the aircraft work folder. Old cached files can cause strange behavior that looks like a new aircraft issue.

Give the E-Jets their own control profile. Check your throttle assignments and calibration before the first sector. For two levers, assign separate THROTTLE 1 AXIS and THROTTLE 2 AXIS bindings; for a single lever, THROTTLE AXIS. Calibrate the detents in the EFB under Settings → Calibration. We also recommend that you create a separate controller profile for the E-Jets and delete the following key bindings:

- TOGGLE MASTER BATTERY AND ALTERNATOR
- TOGGLE MASTER ALTERNATOR

Pick a simple first route. A short flight with a conventional departure and an ILS at the destination is enough to get reacquainted with the aircraft. Save a complex RNAV arrival for a later flight.

#### Update Navigraph navdata

While we had a standalone client for updating the navdata you can now also use the EFB to fetch the latest AIRAC cycle from navigraph. Please follow the corresponding [documentation](https://docs.flightsim-studio.com/e-jet-series/special-features/electronic-flight-bag/navdata-updater). After applying the new navdata it is highly recommended to restart the simulator.

#### In the MCDU: begin with the new workflow

The current stable E-Jets replaced the earlier JavaScript MCDU with a WASM-based unit. If your last flight was on an older stable build, this is the biggest workflow change to learn before departure. The captain's and first officer's units have their own displays and scratchpads, while sharing one flight plan.

For a SimBrief flight, think of the EFB load and the MCDU route as two related steps. Put your SimBrief username in the MCDU's NAV → DATALINK → ADDRESS setup. On RTE, make sure origin, destination and FLIGHT ID match your operational flight plan, then request the route. Request performance data separately on PERF INIT. Select the runway, SID and STAR in the MCDU; these are not brought across by the route request. Follow the [SimBrief Import guide](https://docs.flightsim-studio.com/e-jet-series/mcdu-guide/simbrief-import) for the exact button sequence.

Before pushing back, review the resulting flight plan and performance entries. Route changes create a MOD plan until you activate them; a route you can see on the screen is not necessarily the active route the aircraft will fly. The [Preflight Setup quick guide](https://docs.flightsim-studio.com/e-jet-series/normal-procedures/preflight-setup) provides a screenshot-led walkthrough from the route to takeoff speeds.

#### During the flight: watch the modes, not just the magenta line

The custom flight guidance and autopilot are central to version 1.0. As you climb, cruise and descend, use the flight mode annunciations on the PFD to confirm what is armed and what is active. A selected altitude still matters when flying with VNAV: the aircraft will not climb through ALTSEL, and a descent path will not begin through a selected altitude that has not been lowered. The [Procedure Guide](https://docs.flightsim-studio.com/e-jet-series/normal-procedures/procedure-guide) explains the current VNAV, FLCH and descent flow.

On your first return flight, use familiar modes deliberately. If you select a new lateral or vertical mode, check the PFD before assuming the aircraft has captured it. During a Direct To or an arrival change, review the active flight plan as well as the map. This is the quickest way to tell the difference between a route change you intended and a mode that has not yet engaged.

For an ILS, select the approach in the MCDU and confirm the tuned or previewed navigation source before arming APP. In the documented automatic flow, pressing APP in FMS source without a valid ILS preview does not arm the localizer. A straightforward manual intercept is also described in the [Procedure Guide](https://docs.flightsim-studio.com/e-jet-series/normal-procedures/procedure-guide).

#### If something does not behave as expected

This is not an Airbus or Boeing so expect it to behave differently!

The [First Steps](https://docs.flightsim-studio.com/e-jet-series/introduction/first-steps), [FAQs](https://docs.flightsim-studio.com/e-jet-series/introduction/faqs) and [How to Update](https://docs.flightsim-studio.com/e-jet-series/introduction/how-to-update) pages are the best next stops for common problems.

If you still need help, send us the aircraft version, simulator version, route and a short sequence of what happened. But most importantly: Include the log file! We created a small support app for you to retrieve the log quickly.

Then use our [contact form](https://flightsim-studio.com/contact) to reach out and we will take care of it.
