As promised at the end of last year, we are committed to providing a quarterly progress report to keep you informed about the latest developments at FSS.
With these updates, you’ll get insight into the progress of our ongoing projects, and occasionally, a sneak peek at upcoming projects and events.
Let’s get started!
The next update for the 727 Freighter is just around the corner, as we are now in the final testing phase. Along with numerous bug fixes, this update brings some exciting new features.
A fantastic community-driven feature has made its way into this update! Thanks to our Community Discord member Kilian, you can now place a SimBrief OFP directly on the pedestal. This makes it much easier to enter waypoints into the INS or cross-check SimBrief’s performance calculations.
A huge thank you to Kilian for this amazing addition! You’ll find the clipboard mounted to the right of the cockpit door, and you can place it on the FE table or pedestal as needed.
Stay tuned for the release - it won’t be long now!
You asked for a 727 Passenger Variant, and now you’re getting one! Back in the days, liveries and cabins were colourful and vibrant, especially in the 70s and 80s. In particular, cabin design varied greatly, making it difficult for us to choose a single airline design, as the 727 was operated by numerous carriers worldwide. Therefore, we took inspiration from various cabins while also providing livery painters with the opportunity to customize the textures accordingly. Our goal is to capture the spirit of the 80s and bring it back to life in our cabin! The 3D modeling is mostly complete - both for the cabin interior and the necessary exterior modifications.
Some features on our bucket list are not finished yet. Therefore, we don’t have an exact release date yet, but you’ll get an exclusive chance to test the aircraft at FSWeekend (see below). Stay tuned!
Our custom FMS is coming together fast, but that’s just one piece of the puzzle. Autopilot, various avionics, and other systems are also progressing at full throttle. Every week in our internal dev meetings, we get hyped about the new features coming your way. Here’s a quick update:
One feature that has been a game-changer during development is the pop-out mode for our avionics. Unlike the default MSFS implementation, our MCDU can be fully detached into its own window - not just the screen, but the entire unit, including all working buttons. A first for Microsoft Flight Simulator! We’re also working on a way to interact with the MCDU externally (e.g., through a browser) without requiring additional add-ons.
We currently do not plan to release another update before the first public version of the custom FMS. The reason is twofold:
Instead, we are focusing all our efforts on delivering the feature-enhanced version. And trust us - you’ll thank us later!
FSS is a Gold Sponsor at FSWeekend, Europe’s biggest flight simulation expo, happening in Lelystad on March 15-16, 2025. We’ve got a massive booth packed with cool stuff to try out, including exclusive hands-on access to the 727 Passenger variant!
You’ll also get to test an experimental build of the E-Jets, featuring the latest LNAV and VNAV updates. Note: This version reflects our current internal beta and isn’t ready for release just yet—but it’ll give you a solid preview of what’s coming soon!
We’re also hosting a 20-minute presentation at the FSElite Theatre on Saturday at 12:05 PM (local time), covering our current and future projects. If you can’t attend in person, FSElite is expected to livestream the event, and a recording should be available afterward.
If you have the chance to attend, don’t miss it! It’s going to be an incredible weekend, and we can’t wait to connect with all of you.
Unfortunately, Microsoft has yet to release an update for FS24. While the 727 technically works, it suffers from some bugs, like a broken pressurization system. This bug is known to Asobo and is supposedly on their fix list - but no one knows when that will happen. We know it can be frustrating to see previously functional features from MSFS 2020 suddenly break, but time will fix it. We just hope Sim Update 1 (SU1) will bring significant improvements.
Because of this uncertainty, we can’t provide a clear timeline for updates to our add-ons. However we plan to offer a compatiblity version of the 727 and E-Jets Series as soon as we can.
On a more positive note, we’ve officially started developing a native FS24 version of the Tecnam P2006T, complete with a brand-new, highly improved 3D model. Progress is going well, and we’re aiming to release the MKII as an FS24-native add-on sometime this summer.
Native FS24 versions of the E-Jets and the 727 are planned as soon as the new simulator is stable enough for us to work with.
Stay tuned for more updates!
