Hello everyone,

today, we are excited to reveal our latest project for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024: the mighty Tupolev Tu-154M.

A loud, legendary, and unmistakable tri-jet that shaped aviation across the Soviet Union, Eastern Europe, and beyond for decades. The Tu-154M is not just another aircraft. It is bare metal full of character, complexity, and history.

With this project, we want to bring that unique character into Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 with the depth, atmosphere, and attention to detail it deserves.

A Classic Tri-Jet Full of Character

The Tupolev Tu-154M is one of those aircraft that immediately stands out. Its shape, sound, cockpit layout, and operating philosophy are very different from the aircraft most commonly seen in today’s flight simulation world.

That is exactly what makes it so interesting for us.

It is a demanding aircraft with a very distinct personality. It comes from a different era of aviation, with different design ideas, different workflows, and a very unique technical character. For us, this makes the Tu-154M a perfect fit.

After the Boeing 727, we asked ourselves what kind of aircraft could follow. We were looking for something special, something unusual, and something that would bring a new kind of experience to Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024.

The Tu-154M quickly became the answer.

Built with Passion and Real-World Connection

Our Tupolev Tu-154M is being developed with a strong focus on authenticity, system depth, and atmosphere.

Lead developer Anatolii has fully immersed himself in this aircraft and brings first-class references to the project. His connection to the Tu-154M is also deeply personal: his father flew this very aircraft type as a pilot.

This gives the project a special background. It is not only about recreating an aircraft from documents and photos. It is also about understanding the aircraft, its real-world operation, and the feeling behind it.

For us, this makes the project even more meaningful.

Based on Extensive Research

The 3D model is based on extensive on-site research in Hungary. This helps us recreate the aircraft with the level of detail and accuracy such a classic deserves.

Inside the cockpit, we are recreating the aircraft’s distinctive layout, workflows, and technical quirks. The Tu-154M is full of fascinating system logic, and this is exactly the kind of complexity we want to preserve.

At the same time, we know that the cockpit may feel unfamiliar at first, especially for users who are more used to Western aircraft. That is why accessibility will also be an important part of the project.

Complex, But Accessible

The Tu-154M is a demanding aircraft, but we want to make it approachable, just like we did with our Boeing 727.

That does not mean simplifying away what makes the aircraft special. Instead, our goal is to help users understand and operate it in a way that feels rewarding rather than overwhelming.

Multiple cockpit decal languages are planned, including English and Russian. Our well-known Virtual Flight Engineer will also return to support you in operating this legendary aircraft.

This will help make the Tu-154M accessible to a wider range of users while still keeping the depth and character that define the real aircraft.

A New Step for FSS

This project also represents how far FlightSim Studio has come over the past years.

Our team, our tools, and our understanding of complex aircraft simulation have grown significantly. From systems and sounds to 3D detail, workflows, and long-term product support, the Tu-154M gives us the chance to bring many of these developments together in one very special aircraft.

It is a complex project, and it will take time. We do not want to rush an aircraft like this. But we strongly believe that the Tu-154M is the right aircraft for us.
